Paediatric Oncology

University Children's Hospital Muenster

— Pediatric Hematology and Oncology

The Department is specialized for the treatment of children and adolescents with hematological and solid cancers and non-malignant blood disorders.

Because of its high quality standards, performance of clinical trials and participation in treatment optimization studies and its large catchment area, the Department is one of the largest pediatric cancer centers in Germany. Particular focuses are the treatment of pediatric patients with acute leukemias, lymphomas, with bone and soft tissue sarcomas, and allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

Due to the high demands of pediatric cancers for optimized multimodal therapies, the care of the patients involves a large network of further disciplines. These include the Institutes of Pathology and Neuropathology and the Departments of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, the Institute of Transfusion Medicine, as well as various surgical disciplines, such as Pediatric Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Urology, Neurosurgery, and the Department of Radiation Therapy.
