Radiology

Main focuses

Modern CT diagnosis, including biopsy and CT-guided therapy
Performance of modern CT diagnoses of all organ regions in adults and children. For this purpose, state-of-the-art dual-source CT scanners are available, so that all common CT examinations, including those of the heart (cardio-CT), brain and abdomen (e.g. CT colonoscopy) can be performed.
Furthermore, CT-guided biopsies of all organ regions for acquiring tissue and specimens, including CT-guided therapies, are offered. These include:
  • radiofrequency ablation (e.g. kidney or liver tumours/metastases),
  • thermal ablation (e.g. in osteoid osteoma)
  • periradicular, periganglionic and perineural infiltration
  • thoracic and lumbar sympathectomy for circulatory disorders of the upper and lower extremities.
  • placement of drainage catheters for the relief of urine retention
Innovative MR procedures (MR angiography, MR spectroscopy and functional MRI (fMRI))
Performance of all currently available MRI diagnoses in adults and children with state-of-the-art MR tomographs with field strengths of 1.5 and 3.0 Tesla.
Diagnostic MR methods
  • MRI of all regions of the body in accordance with the latest examination standards, including MRI of the heart for morphological and functional diagnostics, including cardiac MRI under stress
  • Multiparametric MRI of the female breast
  • Multiparametric MRI of the male prostate gland
  • MR spectroscopy
  • Functional MRI of the brain
MRI-guided interventions
  • MRI-guided marking of focal lesions in the female breast
  • MRI-guided removal of samples from the female breast (vacuum suction biopsy)
Musculoskeletal diagnosis and imaging therapy
We cover the entire field of musculoskeletal diagnosis and therapy. Furthermore, all common special examinations are offered:
  • Dual-energy computed tomography in gout
  • Bone densitometry, including DXA
Furthermore, special image-guided therapy for musculoskeletal disorders:
  • Radiofrequency ablation and cementoplasty of bone metastases
  • Alcohol instillation in benign bone tumours, e.g. aneurysmal bone cysts
  • Embolization of bone processes before surgical treatment
The range of treatments offered by the Interventional Radiological includes:
  • Treatment of vascular occlusions of the visceral arteries, renal arteries and the pelvic and leg vessels using balloon methods and  metal mesh prostheses (stents), including with drug-coated stents and balloons
  • Treatment of vascular occlusions by means of drug therapy (lysis method)
  • Vascular occlusive measures (embolization) in all forms of vascular malformations
  • Treatment of liver tumours using chemo-embolization, including the use of drug-loaded (drug-eluting bead) or radioactive particles (SIRT)
  • Treatment of the consequences of liver disease (TIPS)
  • Special procedures such as the acquisition of samples of liver and kidney tissue, the removal of foreign bodies and the correction of catheter system positions
Neurovascular interventions
In the Neuroradiology Department, the full range of diagnostic and interventional procedures is available for children and adults.
The focus of interventional therapy is on the acute care of strokes and the endovascular treatment of vascular malformations of the brain, such as aneurysms and fistulas
Mamma diagnostics
The Breast Centre offers the complete range of diagnostic and assessment services for women of all ages. Examinations are offered by certified specialists:
  • Digital mammography and tomosynthesis
  • High-resolution ultrasound
  • Breast MRI
  • Dedicated breast interventions
