The Departementfor General Orthopaedics and Tumour Orthopaedics at UKM specializes in the treatment of patients with tumours of the musculoskeletal system.
Because of their rarity, among other things, tumours of the musculoskeletal system represent one of the most difficult diseases as far as both diagnoses and therapies are concerned. Precisely for this reason, it is imperative that in the treatment of all malignant diseases of the locomotor system there should be interdisciplinary cooperation among orthopaedists, radiologists, pathologists, oncologists and radiation therapists. In Münster we have an experienced team that can provide the most up-to-date methods for the diagnostic, surgical and oncological care of patients, with their often complex and complicated diagnostic and therapeutic problems.
The team consists of tumour orthopaedists from our own department as well as radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, radiation therapists and plastic surgeons. In each individual case the best possible decision on therapy – and, therefore, rapid logistical treatment – are facilitated through regular discussions of complex cases in a joint tumour conference of all the clinics and institutes involved.
